Products & Specifications
What IP rating do I need for outdoor lighting?+
The IP (Ingress Protection) rating indicates protection against dust and water:
- IP44: Suitable for covered outdoor areas (verandas, porches under roof)
- IP54: Protected against dust and water splashes (most outdoor applications)
- IP65: Dust-tight and protected against water jets (exposed locations, pathways)
- IP67/68: Fully waterproof (ground-level, in-ground installations)
All our products clearly display their IP rating in the specifications. Choose based on your installation location's exposure to weather.
Are your lights dimmable?+
Some of our LED fixtures are dimmable, but compatibility depends on the dimmer type:
- Phase-cut dimmers: Compatible with some of our products (check specifications)
- 0-10V dimmers: Supported on select commercial-grade fixtures
- Smart dimmers: Works with our smart-ready products
Always check the product page for dimming compatibility and recommended dimmer types. Using an incompatible dimmer may cause flickering or reduced lifespan.
What color temperature should I choose?+
Color temperature is measured in Kelvin (K) and affects the ambiance:
- 2700K (Warm White): Cozy, relaxing atmosphere - ideal for residential verandas and patios
- 3000K (Soft White): Balanced warmth - popular for outdoor living spaces
- 4000K (Natural White): Crisp, clean light - good for pathways and task lighting
- 5000K+ (Cool White): Bright, energizing - commercial or security applications
We recommend 2700-3000K for most residential outdoor applications to create a welcoming ambiance.
Do you provide technical datasheets and certificates?+
Yes! All our products include downloadable technical documentation on the product page, including datasheets, IP/CE/ROHS certificates, wiring diagrams, and installation instructions. These are essential for professional installations and tender documentation.
Installation & Compatibility
Can I install the lights myself?+
While our products are designed for straightforward installation, we strongly recommend:
- Mains voltage (230V): Must be installed by a qualified electrician to comply with local regulations and ensure safety
- Low voltage (12V/24V): Can be installed by experienced DIYers, but professional installation is recommended
All products include detailed installation guides. Check our Installation Guide for step-by-step instructions.
What voltage do your products use?+
We offer products in different voltage options:
- 230V AC: Standard mains voltage (EU/NL) - direct connection to household power
- 12V/24V DC: Low voltage systems requiring a transformer/driver
- Multi-voltage: Some products support 110-240V for international use
Always verify the voltage specification matches your power supply before installation. Using incorrect voltage will damage the product and void warranty.
Can I connect multiple lights to one circuit?+
Yes, you can connect multiple fixtures to a single circuit, but you must:
- Calculate total wattage to ensure it doesn't exceed circuit capacity (typically 16A = ~3600W)
- Use appropriate cable gauge for the total load and cable length
- Consider voltage drop over long cable runs
- Follow local electrical codes for outdoor circuits (RCD protection required)
For large installations, consult with a qualified electrician to design the circuit layout properly.
Are your products compatible with smart home systems?+
Many of our products work with smart home systems:
- Smart switches/dimmers: Most products work with smart wall switches
- Smart plugs: Compatible with on/off control (non-dimmable)
- Home automation: Can be integrated via smart relays or controllers
- Native smart products: Select products have built-in WiFi/Zigbee (marked on product page)
Check individual product specifications for smart compatibility details.
Energy Efficiency & Performance
How energy-efficient are LED lights compared to traditional bulbs?+
LED technology offers significant energy savings:
- 80-90% less energy than traditional incandescent bulbs
- 50-70% less energy than halogen bulbs
- Longer lifespan: 25,000-50,000 hours vs. 1,000-2,000 hours for traditional bulbs
- Lower heat output: Safer and more comfortable
A typical 3W LED spot provides the same light output as a 50W halogen, saving approximately €60-80 per year per fixture in electricity costs (based on NL energy prices).
What is the lifespan of your LED products?+
Our LED products are designed for long-term performance:
- Typical lifespan: 25,000-50,000 hours (L70 rating)
- Real-world usage: 15-25 years at 3-4 hours/day
- Quality components: Premium drivers and heat management extend lifespan
- Warranty coverage: 2-year manufacturer warranty on all products
L70 rating means the LED will maintain at least 70% of its original brightness after the rated hours. LEDs don't burn out suddenly—they gradually dim over time.
How much will outdoor lighting increase my electricity bill?+
LED outdoor lighting is very economical. Example calculation:
- 12 LED spots at 3W each = 36W total
- 4 hours/day usage = 144Wh per day
- Monthly consumption: ~4.3 kWh
- Cost (€0.40/kWh NL avg): ~€1.72/month
A typical veranda lighting setup costs less than €2-3 per month to operate. Using timers or motion sensors can reduce costs further.
Do LED lights work in cold weather?+
Yes! LED lights actually perform better in cold temperatures. Unlike traditional bulbs, LEDs are more efficient in cold weather and reach full brightness instantly. Our outdoor-rated products are tested to operate in temperatures from -20°C to +40°C, making them perfect for year-round outdoor use in the Netherlands and throughout Europe.
